Sketchbook Review: Tumuarta
I spotted this Tumuarta sketchbook on Amazon and noticed that it was 25% cotton and just had to give it a try! Here’s my review now that I’ve finished filling it up. The Pros: That Read more…
The trail starts out pretty steep, but don’t let that fool you — just keep going! Then enjoy the switchbacks up to the top.
One of the things I love about the trail is that you have great views of the Basin area and The Window. If you hike the Lost Mine Trail and the Window Trail you really start to get a sense of the Chisos Mountains. I highly recommend the South Rim hike, but if you’re short on time the Lost Mine trail is almost as good!
Once you get to the top you have incredible views into Mexico!
Here’s our obligatory foot selfie! 🙂
I had cell coverage at the top and had to call Dad! Hi Dad!
I picked up an acorn to sketch up top, but it was pretty crowded up there so I brought it back to camp and sketched it on the bear box instead.
Then I set the acorn free on our campsite — if an oak appears there in 30 years maybe it was me. 😉
Thanks for coming along the hike with me! I’ll be posting our hike to The Window next, so stay tuned.

Big Bend is one of Texas biggest treasures and hiking in October or November is perfection l. The pics are beautiful and the acorn is very detailed. I am keeping my hopes up on oak tree.
