I put together a quick little video to set the mood for an upcoming workshop and thought I’d share it here:
Watching this transports me to the desert and gives me those peaceful vibes. I can almost feel the sun on my face.
There’s still time to sign up for the workshop — registration closes at 7 pm CST / 5 pm PST today (March 25th). The class is tomorrow Saturday March 26, 10am-12:15pm Pacific and a recording will be made available afterward if you already have plans.
Come join Lisa as we explore the desert—with pretzels, pocketknives, and paints! Put on your sun hats and pack your salty snacks as we head out on a virtual field trip to Joshua Tree, Saguaro, and Big Bend National Parks. We’ll stop along the way to talk about mixing colors for these unique places as we build a desert palette and explore techniques for creating texture as we paint a cactus and a mini landscape.
All levels welcome.
Sign up HERE.
Hope to see you there!

I wouldn’t have thought of a pretzel as a tool to explore the desert with. Did you know that pretzel means ‘little thing with arms’? Check out the etymology:

Hi Steve! I didn’t know that — interesting! All I know is that I need salty snacks to explore the desert — otherwise, it seems like I drink water and it comes out as sweat a few minutes later — I think of pretzels as making water “sticky” lol!
